				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p style="text-align: center;"><strong>RESIDENTIAL OUTDOOR BURNING REQUIREMENTS<br />
(No Commercial Property Permitted)</strong></p>
<p>Yard debris resulting from property maintenance is allowed to be burned on the residential property it originated from except within the city limits of Maple Valley.  Recreational, Ceremonial, &amp; Cooking fires are allowed in all areas of the District.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><strong>A burn permit is required if the yard debris burn pile size exceeds 4 ft. x 4 ft. x 3 ft. in height</strong>. No burn pile shall exceed 10 ft. x 10 ft. x 6 ft. in height. Multiple piles shall be separated 5 times the width of the pile. Only one pile may be burned at a time. These fires are allowed only during daylight hours.</p>
<p>Permits may be obtained at the headquarters office located at 23775 SE 264th Street between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm Monday through Friday or at our website www.maplevalleyfire.org. There is no fee for a residential burn permit.</p>
<p><strong>LAND-CLEARING BURNING IS PROHIBITED effective July 1, 2008.</strong></p>
<p><strong>Only natural vegetation, yard debris such as leaves and branches resulting from property maintenance may be burned</strong>; piles are to be hand-stacked. The burning of material that has been hauled in from another area is prohibited. The fire shall not contain garbage, building materials, rubber products, plastics or petroleum products, cardboard or paper, or dead animals. Burning garbage is illegal and is strictly prohibited.</p>
<p>Burn piles shall not be located within 50 feet of any structure, fence, tree line, or other combustible material.</p>
<p>A means of extinguishing the fire shall be provided and the fire shall be attended by a person capable of extinguishment at all times while the fire is burning.</p>
<p>If the fire creates too much smoke and/or is a nuisance to your neighbors you must put the fire out.</p>
<p><strong>Recreational, Ceremonial, &amp; Cooking Fires</strong>: These types of fires shall not exceed 2 ft. in diameter and must be in located in an approved fire pit. These fires may be conducted any time of day. Fires shall not be within 25 feet of any structure. Only dry seasoned firewood, pre-manufactured fire logs or charcoal is allowed.</p>
<p><strong>BURN BARRELS ARE ILLEGAL AND PROHIBITED IN ALL AREAS</strong></p>
<p>Ensure that weather conditions are such that burning is safe and legal. Burn bans may<br />
be in effect throughout the year due to extreme fire hazard conditions or poor air quality.<br />
