Burn bans may be in effect throughout the year due to extreme fire hazard conditions or poor air quality conditions. Click on the links to see if active bans are in place:

|STAGE 1 BURN BAN||STAGE 2 BURN BAN|
|Use of fireplaces and uncertified wood stoves and inserts prohibited. Outdoor burning is always illegal.||All wood burning prohibited, including pellet stoves and EPA certified devices. Outdoor burning is always illegal.|
|ALL WOOD BURNING PROHIBITED|
It is OK to use natural gas and propane stoves or inserts during burn bans.
The only exception to these rules are if the homeowner has a previously approved ‘No Other Adequate Source of Heat’ exemption from the Puget Sound Clean Air Agency
Burn ban violations are subject to a $1,000 penalty.
