Message From the Fire Marshal
The Fire Prevention Division provides fire inspection programs designed for the preservation of life and property. The Fire Marshal’s office currently provides services to the City of Maple Valley through a contractual agreement. These services include new construction plan review and inspections, code enforcement, and operational permit inspections.
Fire System Permit applications are available on-line at the City of Maple Valley Community Development page or in person at City Hall 22017 SE Wax Road, Ste 200, Maple Valley 98038. Permit fees for fire plan review and new construction inspections are based on time spent at the rate of $100.00 per hour.
Section 105 of the IFC requires a permit be obtained to maintain, store, use or handle materials, to conduct processes which produce conditions hazardous to life or property, or to conduct and/or maintain a place of assembly for 50 or more persons. The Fire Marshal’s office conducts annual inspections at all commercial occupancies that require Operational Permits.
Engine Company Inspections
Fire suppression crews conduct annual inspections of all commercial occupancies that don’t require an Operational Permit. These inspections are designed to assist both the business owner and the fire crews. Business owners are educated on maintaining a fire safe environment for themselves, employees and customers; fire crews conduct pre-fire planning by familiarizing themselves with buildings and occupancies. The Fire Marshal’s office oversees this program; if you have any comments or questions regarding your inspection contact 425-433-2145 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
